Instructions

How to Make Savory Low Carb Philly Cheesesteak Casserole

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Thinly slice your beef along with the green bell peppers and onion into thin strips.
  • Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté the sliced onions and bell peppers for about 8-10 minutes.
  • In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil and slightly increase the heat. Cook the sliced beef in batches for 2-3 minutes each until browned.
  • Pour about a quarter cup of beef broth into the skillet, deglazing it by scraping the bottom.
  • In the same skillet, stir in the cream cheese and heavy cream over low heat until smooth. Add half of the provolone cheese until it melts.
  • Add the cooked beef and sautéed vegetables back into the skillet, stirring until everything is evenly coated with the cheese sauce.
  • Spread the mixture evenly in the skillet or transfer to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with remaining provolone cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until hot and bubbly.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
