How to Make Fresh Apple Cake

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Whisk together the dry ingredients in a bowl: combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  • In a separate bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix well, then stir in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Fold in grated apples and walnuts if using.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes. Allow to cool in the pan.
  • Prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until smooth. Gradually mix in powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
  • Once the cake is cool, spread the cream cheese frosting over the top and serve.

Notes

For a lovely finish, optionally dust the sliced cake with cinnamon before serving.
