Instructions

How to Make Cranberry Hand Pies

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the fresh cranberries, granulated sugar, and ground cinnamon. Cook until the cranberries burst and their juices release, about 10 minutes. Allow it to cool slightly.
  • On a clean, floured surface, roll out your pre-made pie crust until it's about 1/8 inch thick. Use a round cutter or a large glass to cut out circles that are approximately 6 inches in diameter.
  • Take each dough circle and place 1 tablespoon of the prepared cranberry filling in the center. Gently fold the dough into a half-moon shape and crimp the edges with a fork to seal in all that deliciousness.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a small bowl, beat the egg with a splash of water, then brush this mixture over each hand pie to achieve a beautifully golden crust.
  • Arrange your assembled hand pies on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until they turn a lovely golden brown.
  • Once baked, let the hand pies cool slightly on the baking sheet. They are best enjoyed warm, but can also cool completely to serve later!

Notes

Optional: Dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
