For the Batter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Frosting
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk or dairy-free alternative
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
For the Swirl
- 1/4 cup brown sugar additional
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon additional
Making the Bars
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
Whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in another bowl.
Combine the dry mixture into the creamed butter and sugars gradually until just combined.
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Mix together additional brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl for the swirl.
Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the cinnamon mixture over it.
Dollop the remaining batter on top and spread it evenly.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Whisk together the frosting ingredients in a bowl until smooth and creamy while the bars cool.
