Instructions

How to Make Cinnamon Apple Cake

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 packet of yeast, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  • In a small saucepan, gently heat 1 cup of milk until warm but not boiling. Remove from heat, then stir in 1/2 cup of unsalted butter until it melts.
  • Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients, followed by 2 eggs. Stir until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  • While the dough rises, peel and slice 2-3 apples. Combine apple slices with 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, and a pinch of nutmeg.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread the apple filling over the dough, leaving a small border. Roll the dough tightly into a log.
  • Cut the log into 1-inch thick pieces and place them in a greased baking dish, cut side up.
  • Cover with a towel and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • In a bowl, whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2-3 tablespoons of milk until smooth, then drizzle it over the warm cake.
