  • 1 tsp vanilla extract preferably pure

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

How to Make Christmas Red Velvet Cake Roll

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your jelly roll pan with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  • In another bowl, beat sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy, then add oil, vanilla, and red food coloring.
  • Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture gently until just combined. Pour into prepared pan.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Invert onto powdered sugar-dusted towel.
  • Whip cream cheese and heavy cream until soft peaks form, then mix in powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Spread filling over the cooled cake and roll tightly using the kitchen towel. Chill before serving.

Notes

Optional: Dust with extra powdered sugar before serving for an added touch.
