  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk or non-dairy/low-fat milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Optional Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk adjust for desired thickness

Instructions

How to Make Amish Apple Fritter Bread

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  • Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and dicing about 2 cups. Toss in lemon juice and set aside.
  • Mix the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl: flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Combine the wet ingredients in another bowl: beat the eggs, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients gradually, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the diced apples gently.
  • Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool the bread in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • If desired, drizzle a mixture of powdered sugar and milk over the cooled loaf.

Notes

Ensure apples are diced uniformly for even distribution, avoid overmixing the batter, and apply glaze only when the bread has cooled completely.
